Hello Yellowstone

Hello Yellowstone! As we entered into the east gates of the park, I was once against amazed how beautiful this part of the world really is. We spent the day exploring everything from the park entrance to Canyon Village where we set up shop for the night. Lots of wildlife, such as deer, bison, ducks, chipmunks, and beavers were all spotted on day one. As we found our campsite, we diligently got the tent and sleeping materials set up and started a fire as it was beginning to get cold. After an awesome meal of fire-roasted hot dogs and s'mores, we went down to the nightly campsite show presented by Steve one of the NPS rangers. As we made our way back to the campsite, we tried to snuggle in as much as possible in this homemade “slumberjack” sleeping bag that Matt made us. This was the coldest camping we have ever done. It was in the 30’s last night. I could see my breath and had to wear more clothes for one night of sleeping than I would in a whole week, but we survived. Key word survived. Yesterday, we drove from Canyon Village north to Mammoth Springs, then South to Madison which is on the west side of the park. From the grand canyon of Yellowstone to the upper and lower falls, phenomenal hot springs, and paint pots galore, Yellowstone has something to offer for all. We met some great camping neighbors, Clyde and Judy from Charleston, South Carolina and spent the evening sitting around our campfire getting to know one another. I got my first nosebleed since being here and am sunburned and wind chapped. I miss my comfortable bed at home, where I don’t have to snuggle up with bear spray each night.
