Well, it’s been a couple days since I’ve updated anything on the blog mainly because I’ve been falling asleep before I’ve gotten a chance to do any typing. We’ve been quite a few miles and quite a few places since I’ve last typed so I might break this up into two posts. First off let me say that San Francisco is a wonderful city full so many things we didn’t get the full chance to explore. I’ve been to SF once before on a short trip to pick up live cargo in Napa, but unfortunately, didn’t get to explore the city as much as I’d liked. After our arrival the evening before we managed to part ways as Misty went on the tour bus and I walked down to Chinatown. This is the second largest Chinatown in the nation with all that you could imagine it could have. I went past the Fortune Cookie Company which is a little hole in the wall and managed to turn out something like 20k cookies a day all hand folded and prepared, I peeked in the front door and it looked somewhat like what you might imaging a sweatshop making Nikes might look like save for the fact they were making cookies. I ventured the rest of the way through SF Chinatown to the arch and through the street where all of the little paper lanterns hang over the street. After my sightseeing Misty and I met for lunch at IN & OUT on Fisherman’s Wharf before we headed to Napa.
I don’t think Misty was very impressed with Napa, I guess for the most part, seeing what I hadn’t seen before I didn’t miss much the first time. I feel like some of the wineries are a bit pretentious for farmers turned grape smashers, but what the heck, I guess I get a little excited about viticulture sometimes, but then again, they don’t let you talk to the growers, only the people at the front desk asking you, “Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon?” The positive thing about visiting Napa was we did get to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge twice and took a turnoff at a vista just west of the bridge for a spectacular view of the city.
We made our way back to San Francisco to take a bit of a auto tour of the city including driving Lombard St. and Jones, one famous for being absurdly twisted, the other famous for being absurdly steep, like drive sideways at the top so you don’t high center steep (maybe not quite that bad, a Prius Taxi flew off the top while I was being cautious ..haha). We made our way back to the hotel and started getting ready for our matriculation to Yosemite.
