Sorry we haven’t posted much, there’s not much WIFI around where we were traveling. We’ve made it across the TLH and Rt389 through Quebec! The 1100 miles of a mix of asphalt and gravel wasn’t quite as difficult as we had expected, so that was a plus! When they talk about gravel roads up here, at least the one we were driving on was, for the most part, well maintained. This could be good or bad depending on the area as some of it was as hard as blue groove with loose gravel spread on top making it seem like you were riding on marbles, but all in all, not too bad, just have to get use to the bike moving around a bit. We made it from Port Hope Simpson to Churchill falls in one cold, wet day, however, Churchill falls is a town that only exists because of the hydroelectric power plant that is located in the area, so, unfortunately we were unable to secure a hotel. The good news is that the town manager? or whoever was at Town Center (a trailer with the electric co logo on the side) said we could camp by the church, it was impromptu, but not a bad night. We headed out from Churchill falls seeing the river that once was, several other really neat bridges and rivers and made it to Manic Five Dam, a massive dam that made the circular lake (if you look at the map) in the middle of labrador. The drive to Manic Five wasn’t too bad, about half of Quebec 389, much of it gravel. We saw the large mining operation right outside Labrador City where the tailings pile was as large as the mountains they were mining. We’re currently in Baie Comeau and are going to attempt to make it to Montreal this evening.
