So, it’s been awhile. We’ve been through Atlantic City, New York City, Boston, and Bar Harbor. We arrived in Atlantic City after Philadelphia with expectations that it would be much like Las Vegas. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not like Las Vegas at all. There were casinos, but the atmosphere is much different. All the hustles on the side of the street and in the restaurants and casinos, all seeming to attempt to find a way into your back pocket were not there. It was a much more relaxed town. The boardwalk was pretty interesting, and like I said before, although it is a “touristy” area and of course people are trying to sell stuff, I didn’t find any one thing there overly intrusive to just strolling down the boardwalk. We walked from about the middle of the boardwalk all the way up to steel pier (rt 4mi) and rode the Ferris wheel, but did not ride on the helicopter that was giving 5 min rides for $50 per person. At one point, Misty managed to discover the Atlantic City Boardwalk Cat Program that provides sterilization and food for feral cats along the boardwalk. If there’s a cat, Misty will find it. We continued our trip up the coast to NYC after our overnight stay in AC.
Arriving in NYC around in the afternoon, we had lunch at Lombardi’s, famous for their coal fired pizza ovens, this place was really tasty, but I think Hideaway will still remain our favorite. We also attempted to stop by B&H photo to pick up a mini tripod and a swivel for the GoPro, but we learned, after driving across Manhattan, they close early on Fridays. And unfortunately, Photo Village, across the street, although having a lot of eye candy in the way of high end cameras, had nothing we were needing. After this, we headed off through Central Park and North through Harlem (we knew we were here when we were passed by a guy in a chrome scull cap on an early 2000’s CR250 running down the road (seriously!)) and into Yonkers heading up to Boston.
We arrived in Boston pretty late and just checked into a hotel and prepared to journey out into the city the next morning. We left early the next morning and for the Freedom Trail which snakes it’s way around downtown Boston running past many sites of major happenings during the American Revolution. We had a late lunch at the Cheers Bar and continued North to Richmond, ME to camp overnight on our way to Bar Harbor / Acadia.
We made it to Bar Harbor early afternoon on Sunday. We went ahead and stopped at the KOA, setup our camp and dropped off most of our luggage and headed over to Bass Harbor to see the lighthouse before returning to Bar Harbor to get dinner at Stewman’s Lobster Pound. We’re currently sitting in Two Cats Cafe, we’re headed into the Park this morning than this afternoon we plan on making it to Moncton, Canada.
