It’s been a few busy days since I last wrote on here, so I suppose I should get everyone up to speed on where we are, and well, what we have done so far. After we left Maryland on Wednesday, we headed straight to Philadelphia to take in all the city had to offer. Well, first things first, let’s talk traffic. I HATE traffic, I don’t care what city it is in. On a scale of 1-10, my patience level for traffic is about at a 0 or -1. I guess the people around here (not just Philly, but all major cities), love their cities so much they are willing to tolerate wasting over half their life staring at a bumper of another car while they sit in traffic. My time is too valuable for that. Here’s the other thing about traffic/the Northeast as a whole, Matt, my personal chauffeur for this trip is a rather friendly person and has been driving like he is from Oklahoma this whole time, moseying alone, waving at everyone who lets us in. Matt’s not a very direct person (aren’t we glad, there can’t be two of us in a relationship like that), so he learned real quickly the people here are not very friendly, they will bully you into getting into your lane ahead of you, and you can bet they won’t wave for you letting them over either. While on the subject of traffic, I’ve been pretty calm about this trip so far, trying to stay relaxed as we go 75-80 miles an hour (unprotected by a car) down the highway. It was until we reached rush hour traffic in Maryland, bumper to bumper city driving in the city streets of Philadelphia, and the lane splitting, weaving in and out, craziness of Matt driving in NYC that I needed an entire bottle of Zoloft or Xanax to control my anxiety. Anyways, Philadelphia is a nice city, we saw all the important sites, but I felt it left me desiring more from such a “big city.” After we left Philly, we found our way to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Finally, the beach! I haven’t seen a beach/ocean in several years and that in and of itself made me happy. We had a fantastic little quaint hotel right on the water, which allowed me all access to play in the sand and the water, yeah! We strolled down the boardwalk, picked up the famous salt water taffy, rode the Ferris wheel at Steel Pier, and of course ate fair food along the way. I really love Atlantic City, its very different than Las Vegas (which we all know I’m not a fan of). I could see myself coming back here again for a girls weekend, or just a nice weekend away. Based on what I know of the Jersey Shore (which is all from a TV show that people I associate with watch), I was expecting this place to be filled with over-accented, over-tanned young folks with their lady/man parts hanging out, drinking and partying like crazies! But, to my surprise this place was not like that at all. I realize we aren’t in Ocean City/Seaside Heights, so maybe you have to go to THAT Jersey Shore to be part of that action. Here is a few photos from the past few days…enjoy!
