Well, another successful travel day down. We managed make our egress from Santa Fe this morning without issue and pointed the Miata west. We stopped in Gallup for lunch at Earl’s and continued toward the Painted Desert / Petrified Forest. Here, Misty gasped at the gentle drop from the edges of the scenic lookout points in the park. I can’t imagine what she’s in for tomorrow. We snapped a few pics in the park and were stopped by the National Park TSA agent equivalent to check for contraband petrified wood after which we were allowed to leave the park. We did explain that even had we desired to hijack a piece of history that we would be very hard pressed to do so and that if so, it would be clearly visible on the roof of the Miata. We then proceeded to Williams, AZ. This is a nice little town with a ton of character, a small town America main street, pleny of fun restaurants, and a plethora of lodging. The one thing this town does not have is a car wash. The front and windshield of our poor little car looks as if we attempted to commit bug genocide. I had only hoped for the ability to see clearly and not have to make sure not to brush up against the front of the car, but unfortunately, this will not happen in Williams, AZ. We did manage to dine at a little restaurant here called Pancho McGillicuddy’s. Odd, Irish and Mexican, what a combination. The food was good, but I didn’t see too much Irish on the Menu save for Guinness. Well, to bed I go, looking forward to an early start to the Grand Canyon as we are driving to Vegas by tomorrow evening!
